Naples Center Also Announces Plans for Extraordinary Holiday Season
NAPLES, FL, November 19, 2013 – Following the brilliant opening of Nordstrom Rack at Mercato on November 7, 2013 – with record numbers of shoppers lined up throughout the grand opening – the Naples center today announced a full calendar of exciting holiday promotions and celebrations. The holiday season at Mercato will formally launch on Wednesday, November 27 with the Community Chanukah Celebration.
“We are delighted to have welcomed Nordstrom Rack to our unique collection of shopping and dining options in advance of the holiday season,” said Valerie Cope, Director of Marketing & Sponsorships for Madison Marquette Retail Services, which manages the center. “Joining with Mercato’s premium local and regional retailers, Nordstrom Rack brings national allure to a center also distinguished by a wide array of upscale and casual dining options as well as Silverspot Cinema and Whole Foods Market.”
The holiday season kicks off at Mercato with the Community Chanukah Celebration on the lawn across from Silverspot. Guests will enjoy performances from the Naples Klezmer Revival Band, greetings from community leaders and the lighting of the grand menorah. Whole Foods Market will sell potato latkes with applesauce with all proceeds benefitting the Jewish Federation.
Adding to the excitement, award-winning Memphis, TN blues band Victor Wainwright & The Wild Roots presents a high octane twist on holiday favorites with a free concert on December 5 at 6 p.m.
The highly anticipated tree lighting ceremony takes place on Friday, December 6 at 6 p.m. The largest live Christmas tree in Southwest Florida will be lit in the piazza outside of Second Cup at a ceremony emceed by NBC-2’s Krista Fogelsong. The 25-foot tall, 650-pound Michigan fir was hand-selected and will be adorned with approximately 4,000 lights and 500 ornaments in sunset shades of aqua, orange, pink and silver, giving the annual tree lighting event special majesty.
A special piano-based rock performance by John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting will take place on the lawn outside Bravo! on Friday, December 13 at 6 p.m. Ondrasik is best known for Top 40 hits like “Superman,” “100 Years” and "The Riddle."
On December 15, the Holiday Collector Car Show in conjunction with the Ferrari Club of America will be featured at Mercato with over 125 exotic, sport and classic cars taking to the streets.
A special holiday edition of Movies on the Lawn takes place on December 17 featuring the animated favorite “Rise of the Guardians.” The movie is free and guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and well-behaved pets to enjoy a glorious Florida evening under the stars.
Customers will enjoy various holiday performances throughout December from the Dance Arts by Maria, Dance City Productions, the Naples Harp Ensemble, Stewart Strings Ensemble, violinist Jeff Leigh and more. A full schedule of holiday events, performances and hours can be found on Mercato’s Facebook page.
Mercato shoppers, diners and moviegoers will also note that donation boxes to support the Salvation Army’s holiday toy drive will be located at participating merchants through December 14.
